About this site

Privacy and your data

This page explains what this site does with data, which is close to nothing. There are no accounts, no sign-up and no forms asking for your name, and the notes below set out the small remainder plainly.

No accounts and no personal details

You can read every page here without creating an account, signing in or handing over a name, email address or date of birth. Nothing on this site asks you to register, and there is no newsletter sign-up, no member area and no contact form that collects details. Reading is all the site expects of you.

Because there are no accounts, there is no profile of you held on this side. The site is a static publication: pages are served as files rather than assembled for each visitor from a database, so there is no login record, no saved preferences and no history attached to you. Our partner handles its own data under its own policy, and anything you do on its site is a matter between you and our partner.

What analytics records about visits

If analytics are running, they record visits in aggregate: which pages were opened, roughly where the request came from and what kind of device made it. That information is used to see which pages are read and which are not, and it is not used to identify anyone. It does not tell us who you are.

Analytics of this kind do not reveal your name, your email address or your card details, and they are not a record of what you do on other sites. Cookies are small files a site or its analytics provider may set in your browser; they support that counting and can be cleared or blocked in your browser settings at any time. Blocking them does not stop you reading anything here.

Asking for removal of anything held

The Privacy Act 1988 sets the framework we work to, and it gives you the right to ask what personal information an organisation holds about you and to have it corrected or removed. If you believe this site holds something about you, write to the editorial desk and say what you think is held and why. We will look for it and tell you what we find.

If anything is there, we will remove it or correct it, and we will tell you when that is done. Where the material sits with our partner rather than with us, we will say so, because requests about an account or a transaction belong with our partner under its own privacy policy. We do not invent a data protection officer or a postal address: the editorial desk is the contact.

Questions

Does this site collect my personal information?

No. There are no accounts, no sign-up and no forms asking for your name or contact details, so the site does not build a record about you. Analytics, if active, count visits in aggregate rather than identifying individuals.

How do I ask for information about me to be removed?

Write to the editorial desk and describe what you believe is held and where you saw it. We will check, remove or correct anything found, and tell you if the request belongs with our partner instead.
